Dr Sean Durbin

Dr Sean Durbin received his PhD in 2014 from Macquarie °®Ęļ¼§ in Sydney, Australia, where it was awarded the Vice-Chancellorās Commendation for Academic Excellence and the Australian Political Studies Associationās annual Thesis Award.
His research expertise centres around the critical and social scientific study of religion, focusing especially on apocalypticism, Christian Zionism in the United States, the intersection of religion and politics, and the role that religious discourses and practices play in contemporary societies.
From 2014 to 2019 he was editor of the journal Relegere: Studies in Religion and Reception. Prior to relocating to the United Kingdom, Dr Durbin held positions at Macquarie °®Ęļ¼§, The °®Ęļ¼§ of Newcastle, and Australian Catholic °®Ęļ¼§. He is currently a postdoctoral research associate at Manchester Metropolitan °®Ęļ¼§.
